GSSS–Technology Business Incubator Foundation (GSSSTBIF)
in collaboration with M/s. Conceptia Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Bengaluru

Duration: 09th to 11th October 2025
Venue: Computer lab , Room No. 317, ‘D’ Block – AI&DS Department, GSSSIETW, Mysuru
Target Group: Faculty Members and Lab Instructors of EEE, ECE, and Mechanical Engineering Departments

  1. Introduction

The GSSS–Technology Business Incubator Foundation (GSSSTBIF) organized a 3-Day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) titled “SolidWorks User Interface & Tools, 2D Electrical, 3D Electrical, and Hands-on Sessions” from 9th to 11th October 2025, in association with M/s. Conceptia Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Bengaluru.

The objective of the FDP was to empower faculty members and lab instructors with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills in SolidWorks software, focusing on its applications in electrical and electronic system design, 2D and 3D modelling, and product development.

  1. Inaugural Session

The programme started with the opening marks of Sri. Hrishikesh A, Chief Executive Officer, DST–iTBI–TBIF, GSSSIETW, Mysuru followed by welcoming the delegate.
During his address, he emphasized the importance of digital design tools like SolidWorks in fostering innovation and supporting product development activities in academic institutions. He encouraged participants to integrate such tools into student projects, enabling them to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and industry practices.

The inaugural session was followed by introductory remarks from the resource person Mr. Babu, Technical Support Engineer, M/s. Conceptia Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Bengaluru, who provided an overview of the topics to be covered during the three days.

  1. Programme Schedule and Content Covered

The FDP comprised technical sessions and practical demonstrations conducted by M/s. Conceptia Technologies Pvt. Ltd., with a focus on real-time applications and design problem-solving using SolidWorks tools.

Day 1 – 09th October 2025

  • Introduction to SolidWorks User Interface and Tools
  • Understanding of design environment, sketching tools, and model visualization.
  • Overview of SolidWorks modules relevant to Electrical, ECE, and Mechanical applications.

Day 2 – 10th October 2025

  • 2D Electrical Design: Creation of electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and component placement.
  • Integration of SolidWorks Electrical with mechanical design for enclosure layouts.
  • Hands-on exercises on schematic drawing and symbol libraries.

Day 3 – 11th October 2025

  • 3D Electrical Design: Harness design, cable routing, and PCB integration.

Expected Outcomes: Participants gained hands-on experience with SolidWorks tools and their applications. Improved understanding of electrical drawings, 2D/3D modeling, PCB design, and schematic drawing, relevant for academic and industrial projects. Strengthened ability to guide and mentor students in academic projects and prototype development.

Conclusion:

The 3-Day FDP served as a valuable platform for faculty and lab instructors to enhance their technical competence and adopt modern design tools in academic instruction. The interactive sessions, practical demonstrations, and expert guidance from Conceptia Technologies significantly contributed to the participants’ understanding of SolidWorks software and its applications in electrical and electronics domains. The initiative successfully aligned with the institutional goal of promoting skill-based learning and fostering innovation among students and faculty members alike.
